Trevor,

I just wanted to say, me being a long-time Redskin fan now living in Pittsburgh, I agree with your comment that Mr. Snyder needs to just sit down and shut up when it comes to handling the coaching of the players. He doesn't know a daggum thing about coaching, so he needs to hired the right people in the right coaching positions.

As for Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson, it does sound like they're acting as prima donnas, thinking they don't need to be a part of their(the team's)practice sessions. They need to be on the same page as the rest of the players. Aside from being mentally prepared(understanding the team's schemes) for a game, if a player doesn't go to practice and physically prepare their bodies for games, they're going to get hurt, and in turn, hurt the team.

                        HAIL TO HE REDSKINS!!

I couldn't agree more. And Larry Johnson Sr. coached at my high school. Hell, I have a Larry Johnson Penn State jersey from back before he became a self righteous jackass.
This offseason I decided to take a "trust the new regime" point of view. I liked the hiring of both Shanahan and Allen and how they seem to have convinced Daniel "Hands-on" Snyder to sit down, shut up and let the football guys handle the football stuff.
We even restrained from making big splashes in the first week of free agency instead cutting 10 and resigning 3 of our own. Things were looking up.
Then they pulled this shit.
I couldn't agree more that the CP/JL backfield is probably the highest risk/reward backfield in the league. I just hope that somehow these two become bosom buddies (Sherriff Gonna Getcha & Deputy LJ reopen the Southeast Jerome case?) and squeeze one more good season out of their 4 collective legs. Maybe I'm hoping for too much, but I'm a 'Skins fan, one thing we're good at is hoping.

If Johnson and Portis were supposed to be long-term solutions or even the final pieces to the Super Bowl puzzle I would be concerned, too. But 2010 is all about putting fingers in some areas of the dike while shoring up others with concrete. The two RB's are a part of the temporary patch. I have to think that Shanahan can keep almost anyone in line for one season.

It's not a stroke of genius but it's hardly a disaster.

I was ignoring the feeling in my gut, but you just put it to words, forcing me to confront it. The backfield has a chance to be good (really dependent on the line), but rooting for these two won't be easy.
