Kovalchuk would be nice, IF.....

1. The Caps could get a second AND third mortgage on the Phone Booth (MCI Center) to pay him, he'd be way more expensive than Semin.
2. The Caps get another defensemen to try to play defense to offset the added extremely offensive offenseman.
3. They never play him and Green at the same time, leaving whoever is paired with Green as the only player attempting to play defense in front of Theodore (Yes, I said Theodore)

I like where you are headed because chicks dig goals, but I'd trade Semin for a defensive defenseman because if we follow every sport other than baseball (pitching wins), defense wins championships.

Heck maybe the rotating AHL line (line #4) might bring in some good decisions, no stupid penalties, and the occasional offense; therefor freeing up GMGM to get a not so offensive offenseman, someone show scores up to 25 goals but doesn't cause 70, but isn't Laich someone like that.....oh the factors in it all.....

I think I'll let GMGM do the GMing and just watch the hockey, at least it is entertaining (still frustrating at times) now.

Great post title. And great post. Semin is now 6 seasons into his career. 25 is not a young age. Will he ever "get it?" Outlook doubtful.

Great job Murf! As we've spoken about before, Semin hasn't changed a bit. He's in it for himself and to look good. But he's been hurting the team more and more lately and hopefuly GM has finally had enough. Either trade Semin at the deadline for somebody great (Ilya Kovalchuk would be my choice) or let somebody else pay for Mr. Harlem Globetrotters on skates.

And give Nick Backstrom tons of money in a nice long-term deal.

you know, semin's a great player. beautifully skilled and immensely talented. but what the hell? i'm ready to give up on him. we go into the third period tied, and three veteran players give up incredibly stupid penalties and we get scored against on two of them. and i don't believe that it's because ovechkin is out of the lineup. realistically, that shouldn't matter. perrault last night though, was a thing of beauty. he really showed that he wanted to be in this lineup for the coming future.
